Shows are open to all ages, but pre-registration is required for everyone. 9:00 AM: Observations of the Sky: perfect for younger friendsWe will investigate the changes that occur in the sky in a 24-hour day by observing and describing the changes in the position of the Sun, Moon, and stars. 9:40 AM: Zoom! From the Earth to the Edge of the Universe The audience decides which objects in space to visit in this program, from Earth to the edge of the observable universe and anywhere in between. The journey will help students appreciate the scale of the Solar System, galaxy, and universe, the vast distance separating these objects, and how these objects change over time. 10:30 AM: Seasons, Phases, Eclipses Our Minnesota sky changes throughout the day, and across the seasons. Students will learn how to make observations about the sky: noticing constellations, planets, and the changing positions of the sun and moon.Summer 2026 -

DEC Summer 2026-AquaticsSwim LessonsThese Swimming Lessons are reserved for Dutchmen Explorers' Club participants ONLY. For more information about Swim Levels click HERE. July 21-24: Lessons are Monday through Thursday Semi Private Lessons-50 minutes per day. 3:1 student:teacher ratio. Lessons are for children 5 and older.Private Lessons-25 minutes per day. 1:1 student:teacher ratio. Lessons are for children 4 and older. Swim lessons offered through Community Education are designed to teach participants lifelong swimming skills and provide training in basic water safety and how to help a swimmer in distress. In addition to the skills outlined under each level, swim lesson courses are intended to provide a positive learning experience so participants can feel comfortable and enjoy the water safely. Community Education swimming lessons are progressive, with each level building on skills, technique and endurance acquired as the levels advance. All swimmers must shower before entering the pool or come pre-showered. No lotion, sunscreen, bug spray, hair products, etc. *Must wear a swim cap. Caps can be purchased at Coborn's in Melrose. DEC staff will bring students to lessons and back. Parents are invited to watch in the bleachers if they would like to. Parents, please keep track your child's swim levels, you will receive a report card after each lesson!Summer 2026

Starting SoonElementary GymnasticsGymnasticsIn this Gymnastics program, classes will focus on all areas of gymnastics: floor, beam, bars and vault, and improving skills and strength. All girls must be at least 4 years old and potty trained to participate in Beginner and up classes. Tiny Tumblers must be 3 by May 1. Gymnasts should wear a leotard, or tight fitting tank top or shirt, and spandex shirts. Nothing loose fitting. No socks, our jewelry. Please send a water bottle with to class. Please have your child use the restroom before class. Parents may be allowed in gym 4 if other activities are not using that gym. F.A.S.T. Kids-Staying Safe While Home Alone, ages 7-10/Youth EnrichmentFirst Aid and Safety Trained Kids (F.A.S.T.) is a 4 hour course for 7-10 year olds. This course helps prepare children for staying safe at and away from home. Lessons cover basic first aid, water safety, vehicle safety, home emergencies, injury prevention, stranger, and internet safety.
